Autumn

As the wheel turns once again from summer to autumn, it is important to protect your immune system.

The days begin to shorten, gradually, but this affects our lymphatic system and we can become prone to coughs and colds, but you can support your immune system.

  • spend lots of time outdoors, absorbing the last rays of summer. The fresh air helps to clear your sinuses and improves your sense of wellbeing. Activity, too, keeps your circulation moving. Lymph is moved around your body by breathing and movement, so this helps to protect against seasonal colds.
  • body brush every morning before your shower. You can either use a brush or your hand, but begin at your feet and move upwards towards your heart. You can also tap under your arms, behind your knees, groin and abdomen to encourage the lymph drainage, tap lightly but quickly.
  • begin the day with hot water, this flushes your digestive system allowing your body to absorb the nutrients from your food. Eat a varied diet, lots of root vegetables and green leafy veg, they are packed full of bioactive compounds, this are mainly found in root vegetables and promote good health. Green leafy vegetables are rich in fibre, iron, b vitamins, magnesium, potassium and calcium.
  • make a list of everything you love about autumn. The vibrant colours, spicy scents, hot chocolate, jumpers, walks in the woods kicking up fallen leaves. By doing this, you are connecting with autumn positively, not just seeing a loss of summer days but relishing those misty mornings and warm sunny afternoons. Autumn is a time of beautiful sunsets and sunrises too!
  • Fill your home with scent. Essential oils will help protect you and your family. Have a look at our sister site , helpmeorganicsHpmeorganicsHelpmeorganics

Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.

HELLO AUTUMN

I am writing this with the rain hitting the window, I think i can definately say that summer has ended and we are in autumn. Some may think this is a sad time but autumn is a beautiful vibrant season which often gets overlooked as we get busy for Christmas. So lets revel in Autumn.

If it important to get prepare, spend as much time as possible in the daylight to stock up on vitamin D, this helps with your mood and general health.

Being outside is very beneficial for our lymphatic system too, we are more active which means that lymph is pumped around our body clearing toxins and bringing fresh lymphocytes to fight infections.

There are many ways to boost your lymphatic system

1… be active even if thats dancing, running, gardening, just moving

2… drink water. If you are hydrated, your body is more efficient. I am a fan of hot water as this is kinder to your digestive system and flushes away toxins better

3… skin brush. You can do this by hand in the morning on dry skin before your shower. Begin at your ankles and with a sweeping motion, move up to your head. This is stimulating your circulation which again helps to fight infections as it brings fresh nutritious blood to your organs and joints

4… Use aromatherapy in your home and workplace. Make it organic aromatherapy too as this is more therapeutic and grown without pesticides

Here are our suggestions:

“help me, i’m feeling under the weather” essential oil blend

antibacterial essential oil blend

Powerful antibacterial essential oils of Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Lavender and Tangerine will help clear sinuses, ease headaches and help to fight autumns coughs and colds

We like to add 2-3 drops in bowls of water and place around your home and home office to create a wonderful scent

5… The best treatments for autumn are:

  • Hopi ear candles which help to remove wax plugs which prevent your sinuses clearing naturally. You can also have the Sinus Massage which involves the ear candles, reflexology and a lymphatic facial massage
  • Warm Bamboo massage warms your muscles and eases toxins which make you feel achy so you move less. See our offer for October
  • Holistic Facial nourishes your skin plus we use “meridian tapping” to boost your energy.
  • Lymphatic drainage massage (and reflexology lymph drainage) is the perfect treatment to get your immune system at its best. If you struggle with seasonal coughs and colds, this is definately one for you. See our November offer
  • If you struggle with SAD, there are plenty of things to do now

1… make the most of getting outside

2…make a mood board for what you want to do in 2021

3…use aromatherapy to help relax you

helps to calm and soothe your mind.
organic essential oil blend

“help me have mindful of calm” essential oil blend uses organic essential oils of Frankincense, Geranium Bourbon and Lavender to ease feelings of anxiety, stress and being over whelmed

So lets make this Autumn as vibrant as the colours and as scented as we can.

Hello March

The first signs of spring are enough to fill many of us with optimism and energy that is just the tonic after a long winter. Think trees laden with delicate blossom in pretty pastel tones, or fresh green shoots awakening from dormancy, filling us with hope and optimism for the year ahead. And just as the spring bulbs and plants burst through the barren winter with their promise of life and beautiful colours, so spring people light up a room with their expressiveness, their creativity and inspirational ideas But are you a “Spring” person…

The Spring Personality

The Spring personality is infectiously enthusiastic, incredibly bright and very people-focused. Spring personalities are big on fun, they are excellent communicators, good at thinking on their feet and brimming with ideas. Clarity, simplicity and transparency are all important to them.

Their challenge is to hold themselves back as they are prone to flit from one thing to another, never quite finishing off one project before starting another. They can be seen as flaky and a little unreliable but this is only as a result of their heads literally being full of ideas.

A Spring person loves circles, polka dots, busy patterns, fine lines and glossy textures. colourwise think primrose yellow or verdant lime green

AROMATHERAPY FOR SPRING

This season is for the delicate scents of nature. Fill your home with floral aromas of Helpmeorganics spring candle, “help me say hello to Spring” Enjoy a blend of Patchouli, Rose geranium, Pink Grapefruit and Lavender. Fresh clean scent to help you feel happy and energised yet calm and relaxed.

There are still plenty of coughs & colds around so use antibacterial & antiviral essential oils…try Helpmeorganics “help me, i’m feeling under the weather” essential oil blend in your home and workplace. 1 -2 drops on a tissue will help protect you & keep your sinuses clear.

TREATMENTS FOR SPRING

As we mention before, there are plenty of viruses about so making sure your lymphatic system is working efficiently is very important, by having a regular massage or reflexology will help increase your immunity.

Sinuses can become sluggish so consider having a Hopi Ear Candle to clear away congested wax, maybe combine it with the Sinus massage which includes reflexology lymph drainage too.

MOTHERS DAY 22ND MARCH 2020

We think Mothers (and maternal figures in our lives) are very super important to our health & wellbeing so its lovely to make a fuss of them. Why not book them in for a treatment, bring them along then afterwards take your mum for a coffee or a meal. We have lots of ideas on our website but maybe this one will be just what you are looking for:

HELLO WINTER

Winter is a beautiful time of year and one to definitely enjoy!! Yes the days can be shorter but its also a season for blankets, candles, movies, Christmas and being able to enjoy a lovely fresh walk.

This month, we celebrate our 25th birthday and I can’t believe it. 25 years ago I was nearing the end of my course and had to write a business plan, I always knew the name (Simply Relaxing) and I always knew that Holistic Therapies would be the key treatment. So my business was born.

In January 1995 i very nervously opened the doors to my shop and I do have to admit it took a time to attract my first customers. In 1995 having a regular massage was not deemed something that anyone could have as regular as having your hair cut, I am very proud to say that now having a massage, reflexology, reiki or facial is considered just as important as you have to look after yourself emotionally, physically and mentally . In 25 years this mindset has changed and I am so so very happy., how great that, hopefully, our children and grandchildren will continue to look after themselves inside and out.

Winter is a time for scent and we want you to fill your home with organic essential oils which smell beautiful but also keep you healthy. Have a look at Helpmeorganics website (www.helpmeorganics.com)

During the last 25years I have been very lucky to meet lots of wonderful people (and look forward to meeting even more in years to come). I have enjoyed hearing your news and that you have been interested in my news too, this has meant so much to me. So this Friday (6th December) come along and enjoy a glass of champagne to celebrate this brave leap of faith that I could make Simply Relaxing work. I do have to say that my business plan has been updated many times and is now my masterplan to take my business into a chapter where I take my foot ever so slightly off the pedal and enjoy lots of other things too.

I have always said that you have to have a balance and maybe its time that I get some balance too but I am definately 100% as passionate about Simply Relaxing and bringing more new therapies for you to enjoy even if only 3 days a week but lets see how things get set up. I will always put you first.

Please read through all the special offers and Christmas packages, we do still offer vouchers but I am trying to get you to arrange the treat too and maybe even bring them to the salon. A proper treat!!

The December special offer is all about boosting your immune system to help fight off coughs and colds. We use specialised manual lymphatic drainage massage techniques to pump your lymph around your body, releasing toxins as we go. It is a full body massage and we have added reflexology and an express facial to complete the treat, £55

Our Christmas Opening Times for the week running up to Christmas are available in the shop and are available on the “Christmas 2019” section on the website.

I would like to thank you for being the loveliest people I could meet, I am very lucky.

Get ready for the Season change to Autumn

Here we are in August, just a couple of weeks to the August Bank holiday and it has been a gorgeous summer so far but Autumn is coming .  When we have a change in the season, your body can take time to adjust due to the changes in daylight amounts, am I the only one who feels the nights are a little longer. But before we find our jumpers there is a hopeful chance of an “Indian Summer” to come with those fabulous cool mornings, hot days but nippy evenings, I love them!

So what can we do to help ease our body into the new season?  There are many ways to gently boost your immunity,

  • make sure you are eating lots of fresh foods, not processed, just good wholesome veg, fruits and fish/chicken
  • start using essential oils in your home. try “help me, i’m feeling under the weather” blend from Helpmeorganics to provide a protective environment at home and work.  With the children returning to school in the following few weeks, they can bring home coughs & colds as they adjust to school life again. We can return to full time lives after the fun of summer so take a tissue with you to work to place at your work area to fight off the office bugs.
  • If you find the change in season causes a shift in your “happiness” level, Bach Flower remedy “Walnut” helps you to adjust to change, this added with using aromatherapy will protect you whilst you get used to Autumn.
  • Getting outside as much as possible enjoying fresh air and daylight to get a good dose of Vitamin D, otherwise known as the “sunshine vitamin”.
  • Enjoy holistic treatments, all will boost your serotonin levels, ease achy muscles and keep your sinuses clear. Reflexology is a brilliant therapy to create a balance within your body and on an emotional level too, it has been a beautiful summer so far and there can be a sadness that “it has gone now, just winter to come” feeling. Embrace Autumn, think hot chocolate, great piles of leaves, the fantastic colour show by the trees, all this is to be enjoyed.
  • In Mindfullness, we are encouraged to enjoy the “here and now”, not to worry about the past or the future, it is a wonderful way to control your feelings.  Simply get comfy, place your hands on your stomach and notice your breathing without the need to change anything, just allow your breathing to slow in its own pace, your mind will calm and you will feel relaxed.  If you struggle with anxiety, try using “help me have a Mindful of calm” blend by Helpmeorganics. It is a blend of Frankincense, Lavender and Geranium essential oils and will help ease your thoughts.
  • Make a mood board of all the things you enjoyed during summer and what you have planned for Autumn and Winter.  Pack it full of all sorts, the fuller the better and the colourful the better so that on a cold frosty winters day, you will have your own patch of summer in your kitchen.

At Simply Relaxing, we are busy getting ready for Autumn, I love this time of year its so busy.  To help you embrace Autumn, we have devised our special Autumnal Offer……
